Tidy, upright shrub with new, brilliant red spring foliage gradually darkening to dark purple. Retains its colour in hot weather. Light pink bloom clusters in mid-to-late spring mature to red seed capsules. Slower growing than other ninebarks. Prefers well-drained soil.
