Hoya Retusa
Hoya Retusa
Description
Hoya Retusa is a Grass like, Semi-Succulent Hoya. Typically grown in a hanging basket or on the edge of a shelf to allow the Hoya to trail. Retusa does not climb or vine, but rather is a trailing Hoya with single Smooth, Crisp white flowers with a maroon centre. Retusa can grow past 4' in length and can be cut to encourage back-branching and thicker growth near the soil.
Sizing
Hoya Retusa have long slender foliage that can reach 6" in length but rarely exceed 1/8th of an inch wide. You can expect your hoya to grow no taller in height than 3", but should expect to grow past 4' long with proper lighting and fertilizer.
Care
Hoya Retusa is a semi-succulent Hoya, so slightly less water than a typical Carnosa. They like bright light, but prefer less than 3 - 4 hours of direct sunlight. Feed your Retusa monthly through the grow season to encourage fast growth and flowering. You can grow your Retusa in a lower light area of your home with the addition of a 26 Watt Grow light.
Fertilizer
Hoya prefer a high phosphorus feed to encourage flowering, and we find our All Purpose Fertilizer is a great feed for most Hoya collectors that are trying to encourage flowering an new growth.
