For over fifty years, Wayne and Nancy Hart have grown premium Balsam Fir Christmas trees on their family farm in Nova Scotia. What started with a handful of saplings back in 1970 has grown into a thriving multi-generation operation that now plants roughly 1,000 new balsam firs every single year. Their dedication, consistency, and hands-on care are the reason their trees are so well shaped, fragrant, and long-lasting.
The farm is truly a family effort. One son works directly on the farm, managing pruning, shaping, baling, and seasonal harvest. Their other son handles distribution from Manitoba. Freshly cut trees are baled on the farm, shipped securely to Manitoba, and then coordinated through their distribution system to arrive at our greenhouse in perfect condition.
We connected with this family through a conference we attended, at a time when U.S. tariffs made sourcing American trees difficult. We made it a priority to find a Canadian farm whose values, quality, and reliability matched our own. That search led us to the Harts—and the partnership has been outstanding.
Every tree we bring in is a Premium Grade Balsam Fir, ranging from 6 to 12 feet tall. After harvest, the trees are immediately baled and loaded into an enclosed trailer for transport. This prevents Broken Tops, Road Grime, Mud, Windburn and Drying out during transport.
By the time they reach our greenhouse, they are consistently full, lush, and beautifully shaped.
